2004 Sangiovese
2004 was another great vintage due to a very consistent growing season which ensured very ripe and flavorful grapes. This vintage follows are very successful first vintage, 2003, which has quickly sold out.
The grapes were sourced from White Hawk Vineyard, which is located just outside Santa Maria in Santa Barbara County, which is a cool growing region for the Sangiovese grape. The vineyard rests on a south/east facing slope and the soil is very sandy which makes for stressed grape vines that produce very ripe fruit with concentrated rich flavors.
Sensory evaluation: Cherry, plum, dark fruit, medium to heavy body with a supple richness, sandal wood flavors on the long finish and young soft tannins.
